MANILA, Philippines — Leave a Nest Philippines is proud to announce the three recipients of the Science Castle Grant Philippines 2026 (Lockheed Martin Award).

The Science Castle Grant empowers junior and senior high school students to transform original research ideas into scientific innovations with meaningful societal impact. This year’s applicants explored environmental sustainability, materials and design innovation, sustainable exploration, sensing and detection systems, and human-machine collaboration.

Following the evaluation and interview process, three teams were selected for the originality, scientific merit, feasibility, and potential impact of their proposed research.

Science Castle Grant Philippines 2026: Recipient Teams

1. HERO: Haptic Exoskeleton for Rescue Operations — An Assistive Glove for Lifesaving Operations

School: Mariveles National High School – Camaya

Research Theme: The Haptic Exoskeleton for Rescue Operations (HERO) is a cost-effective wearable glove equipped with sensors intended to make the process of rescue more efficient and safe.

2. Haudisee: An AI-Powered Wearable Proximity Detection Belt for the Visually Challenged

School: University of the Philippines High School in Iloilo

Research Theme: Haudisee is a low-cost wearable navigation belt that enables localized, offline obstacle detection to enhance independent mobility for persons with visual impairments.

3. BioSeal: Development and Evaluation of an Organic Marine Sealant vs Commercial Products 

School: Saint Catherine of Siena Academy of Samal Inc.

Research Theme: BioSeal is an eco-friendly boat sealant that aims to protect both shipyard workers from harmful chemicals, and protect marine ecosystems from toxic pollution.

Each team will receive research funding support of up to PHP 15,000 and monthly mentorship from research and industry professionals. From August to December 2026, the teams will refine their methodologies, conduct experiments, develop their projects, and strengthen their scientific communication skills.

Their research journey will culminate in the presentation of their projects at Science Castle Philippines 2027.

Through the Science Castle Grant, Leave a Nest Philippines and Lockheed Martin aim to give young Filipino researchers the resources, guidance, and platform needed to pursue their curiosity and develop solutions to real-world challenges.
